Financial technology, also known as Fintech, is an economic industry composed of companies that use technology to make financial services more efficient. In China, the rapid development of Fintech and Internet finance are well sought after by the capital market, and attracted global attention with their innovative business models, large user group and enormous impact. The large demand for inclusive finance and the regulatory support are driving the boom of Chinese Fintech sector, but there are also risks and challenges reflected by the massive failure of P2P companies in recent years.

AmCham China Financial Services Forum is delighted to invite members to join McKinsey and Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance, and discuss the status quo and future development trends of China’s Fintech and Internet finance in a global context. Nicole Zhou, Associate Principal of McKinsey & Company, will present the key findings in their recent report on China Internet Finance Innovation. Ivy Gao, Director of International Cooperation and Development at Fintech Lab of Tsinghua University, will share their insights comparing Chinese and American Fintech companies, with the introduction of their recent study visit to the US and their Global Fintech Business Model Report. The panel discussion will be moderated by Jianbo Li, Executive Director of JP Morgan and Chair of AmCham Financial Services Forum.

    Nicole Zhou

    Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company

    Nicole Zhou is an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company. She joined the firm in February 2010.

    Nicole is a core leader in the McKinsey Greater China Financial Institutions Group Practice. She has advised many domestic and international clients on their growth strategy and transformation
    journeys. Her areas of expertise include corporate banking, retail banking and wealth management, private banking, internet and digital innovation, organization and talent management.

    Before joining the McKinsey, Nicole worked at HSBC investment banking, Moodys Financial Institutions Group, and AEON International.

    Nicole has an MBA from the University of Chicago, and a BA from Fudan University.

    Working as the Director of International Cooperation and Development at Fintech Lab of Tsinghua University, Ms. Ivy Gao is responsible for outreach, communications, planning and executing cooperation with fintech community, internationally. Prior to Fintech Lab, Ivy worked as the Director of Partnership Development at Commission for Strategic Partnerships in Tsinghua University. Before joining Tsinghua University, Ivy was in charge of communications, events and fundraising at a nonprofit organization in New York City.

    Ivy holds master's degrees in public relations and communications from Syracuse University and Communication University of China, respectively.

    Executive Director of JP Morgan

    J.P. Morgan’s Executive Director/Head of International Government Relations for China, as well as a member of the bank’s China Executive Committee and Global Regulatory Policy Executive Committee.

    Prior to J.P. Morgan, he worked for Standard Chartered Bank for many years. As Director and Head of Public Affairs, he was one of the key contributors to the bank’s China strategy and government collaboration projects.

    He received two bachelors (LLB & BA) from Peking University (1986), and also holds an MA in management from City University London (1995). He is currently chairman of the Financial Services Forum, AmCham-China.

Attending an Event
Events have limited seating, so to ensure your attendance we encourage advance online registration and payment for ALL events. We cannot guarantee entry to anyone not registered in advance.
Most of our events are in English and off the record, but please check the webpage for each event to avoid disappointment.

Advance Tickets and Discounts
Members can receive a discount by purchasing an advance ticket at least 24 hours before the day of the event. You must pay online at the time of registering for the event to be eligible for a discount.
Discounts will not be available to members at the door.

Receipts (fapiao)
You can receive your fapiao when you arrive for an event provided that you buy an advance ticket and pay online at least 1 working day before the event and you provide the correct information for your fapiao at that time. You can leave details of the type of fapiao you need on the registration and payment page.
 
Event attendees can request a fapiao at the door or up to two months after the event. Requests made after that time will not be accommodated. Please contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.
 
Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend an event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than one business day prior to the event. If you fail to notify AmCham China of your cancellation in a timely fashion, you will forfeit the fee you have already paid.

To cancel you can: 1) cancel directly online through the Eventbank platform on which you registered or 2) contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.
