At this month's executive breakfast, we will have two guest speakers. Mr. Scott Pozil, recently arrived in Beijing as the Principal Commercial Officer of the U.S. Embassy would like to introduce himself to the AmCham community and give a debrief of the Hang Zhou G20.
And we also welcome Mr. Stephen Duckitt, Tournament Director of the Tianjin Open and the Taiwan Open, two WTA International Series professional tennis events. The Tianjin Open is Tianjin’s largest annual international sporting event offering USD 500,000 prize money.
Stephen will give an overview of the WTA and how the Tianjin Open fits, the structure of Tianjin Open, the challenges of running a tennis tournament in China and then an overview of the tournament for 2016 including the players, marketing initiatives, sponsorship and ticketing.
Prior to moving to Beijing in 2012, Stephen worked in PR and Communications for the ATP World Tour, the governing body of men’s professional tennis, and made his first visit to China in 2005. In 2012 he moved to Beijing taking up a consultancy role with the China Open, Asia’s largest international tennis tournament, before moving to Tianjin and the Tianjin Open in 2015.
