Tianjin Custom Wood Processing Co., Ltd., (better known locally as “TCW”) is located in Tianjin’s Dongli District and in June of this year celebrated its 20th Anniversary.
A wholly owned subsidiary of California Cedar Products Co. (CalCedar) with headquarters in Stockton, California, TCW manufactures pencil slats. Pencil slats are the wooden, OEM component used by pencil manufacturers to produce wood-cased pencils. CalCedar is the world’s leading supplier of pencil slats. TCW produces pencil slats in a variety of wood species; with some raw material being imported to China from California and Oregon in the USA, while other species are sourced from China and Russia. Each different wood species has particular advantages and disadvantages and offers a variety of economic, ecological and technical performance benefits to the pencil manufacturer and to the consumer. And, each species requires a specific TCW manufacturing process in order to produce pencil slats that will meet the demands of the global pencil manufacturing industry.
