Event Details

AmCham China’s Financial Services Forum and Clean Tech Forum are delighted to welcome Dr. Ma Jun, Chief Economist at the People’s Bank of China (PBOC)’s Research Bureau and Chairman of Green Finance Committee, who will introduce the concept, goal, policies and best practices of Green Finance and “greening the financial system” in China.

In the panel that follows, financial and clean energy experts will discuss how Green Finance can support the development of clean technology and supporting infrastructure, and how the private sector can enhance its understanding of Green Finance and better cooperate with financial institutions for their own sustainable development. Li Jianbo, Chair of AmCham China's Financial Services Forum and Executive Director of J.P. Morgan, will moderate the event.

As the key elements of China’s 13th Five-Year Plan and upcoming G20 Summit, Green Finance is a series of policies and infrastructure aiming to introduce social capital into “green industries” such as environmental protection, energy conservation, clean energy (energy produced by solar, wind, water and other renewable resources) and transportation, etc. by means of loans, private equity investment, bonds, stocks, insurance and other financial products. With increasing environmental challenges, the Chinese government is striving to encourage sustainable development with innovative methods, and Green Finance plays a significant role in this national strategy.

The Green Finance Committee is a non-profit research and coordination institute under the China Society for Finance and Banking. It focuses on the research and promotion of green financial products and services, and it endeavors to shape the green investment concept and stimulate the implementation of relevant policies.
