China's consumer internet market is both heavily regulated and highly competitive. Innovative business structures and strategies have allowed some US companies to find success, but challenges remain for many global internet brands in China.

Jointly hosted by AmCham China's SME Committee and China Entrepreneurs (CE), this event will present some of the successful strategies and best practices adopted by US companies and showcase several entrepreneurial brands that have found success in the Chinese internet space.

    CEO of EventBank

    Eric L. Schmidt is the CEO of EventBank, an enterprise engagement marketing automation SaaS platform. Founded in 2013,‎ the company now has offices in Silicon Valley and Beijing. Eric is also the Chairman and Founder of China Entrepreneurs, which he started in 2003 as an informal resource for entrepreneurs in China and it has grown to become the leading platform for entrepreneurship in China. He has worked with Chinese venture capital and private equity investments and incubated start-up technology companies. Schmidt co-founded 1 Lacrosse LLC (a sports equipment company) and successfully exited in 2009, as well as Ivy Discovery Institute (an educational services company).

    Schmidt has traveled to over 50 countries and in 2004, sponsored by Nike and Phillips, he traced Marco Polo’s route, cycling 100 days from Beijing, China to Venice, Italy. He holds both a MS with a focus in Technological Entrepreneurship and a BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Schmidt has been featured on media such as the BBC, The Wall Street Journal, Baron’s, CCTV, China Daily and numerous other outlets.

    Mr. Yin has broad and versatile experience in international business development, sales management, and product oriented marketing. He currently heads the operation of Evernote Business in China.
    Prior to joining Evernote, Mr. Yin had worked in Vancouver, London, and San Diego in telecommunications and creative licensing industry.

    Mr. Yin acquired his bachelor degree from the University of British Columbia in Computer Engineering.

    Simon heads the food and nutrition practice for Weber Shandwick China and closely works with top clients such as Ocean Spray, Bacardi, CA Walnuts, McDonald’s, and EU’s DG Agriculture to help them grow their brands in China through integrated communications across traditional and digital Social PR. He is also a co-author of the 2014 and 2015 China Food Forward industry report.

    Prior to Weber Shandwick, Simon was the global search director at Mindshare NY overseeing the global account for SAP and the North America region for all Unilever brands. For Unilever, his team created, executed social media, community management, influencer engagement and integrated marketing programs for Unilever including a Facebook campaign that led to top fan page growth in 2010. Simon was also invited to join Unilever’s North America Digital Innovation Board as an advisor of all brands for search and digital media strategy.

    Simon has spoken at various international conferences including AMCham’s 2014 Food Marketing conference, BeaPon’s Annual Asia Social Media Summit, the Beijing Government Affairs Forum 2012, SES China, SES London and OMS New York and was a guest lecturer at the Zicklin School of Business in New York. Simon is a volunteer at TED-X Beijing and is a recipient of the Campaign’s China Digital A-List award. He holds an MBA from Columbia University.
