AmCham China Tianjin's monthly executive breakfast is a great opportunity to meet the members of the 2015 Executive Committee and become involved in the Tianjin professional community. Network and share information with fellow members, while enjoying a delicious breakfast at a great price.

The guest speakers for this month will be Cathy Feig, Commercial Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing; Mike Elkin and Douglas Ostertag, Economic Officers of U.S. Embassy in Beijing. They will give a debrief of President Xi Jinping’s visit to the U.S. and the bilateral meeting of the Presidents to the American business community.

    Cathy Feig

    Commercial Officer at U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China

    Catherine Feig returned to Beijing in June 2013 to begin a 4-year tour as a Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy covering standards issues and the IT industry. Prior to her arrival she served in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s U.S. Export Assistance Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where she counseled U.S. companies in South Florida on exporting to numerous worldwide markets.
    Ms. Feig began her work in China in 2006 with the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, followed by a tour in Shenyang, China as Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate from 2009-2011. She began her work for the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. in 2001, after many years in the private sector. Ms. Feig holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baylor University.

    Economic Officer at U.S. Embassy Beijing

    Mike Elkin is a first-tour Economic officer at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China. Mike has a Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and Master’s degrees from Columbia University and the London School of Economics. Before joining the Foreign Service, Mike worked as a freelance journalist for 15 years in Western Europe and North Africa. Mike is married to Dr. Nadia Nugent and has a 17-month-old son.

    Douglas Ostertag

    Economic Officer at U.S. Embassy Beijing

    Doug Ostertag is the fourth-tour Economic officer at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China. He previously served in Taiwan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Doug has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Arts from Cambridge University (UK). He graduated law school from the University of Texas and practiced law in New York City and San Francisco for four years before joining the Foreign Service. Doug is married to Dr. Shamistra Soysa, and is from San Diego, CA.
