In today's world, the ability to send data across borders is an essential part of business and daily operations for companies across a vast scope of industries. Despite the importance of data flows on businesses, governments around the world are enacting policies that would restrict data flows in order to address domestic security issues. Such rules, although they are driven by justifiable intentions, would impose an immense burden on companies and negatively affect economic growth in the country and curtail business activities, while being counterproductive to the original intentions for the data localization measures.
AmCham China will share with you our latest Policy Spotlight on Data Localization Policy in China, and hold a panel discussion on data localization trends and opportunities within the US-China Bilateral Investment Treaty. The report analyzes current data localization policies in China, and provides recommendations to reduce the adverse effect of these policies on foreign trade and investment in China and guarantee a seamless flow of data for US companies in China.

A copy of the report will be given to all attendees.

Please note: The date for this event has changed to April 14.
