We all know first-hand how challenging it can be for expats living and working in China, let alone managing large teams. In this course, participants will get a solid understanding of the cultural landscape in China and communication strategies for success. We'll look at Chinese values, ambition, work ethic and how people build relationships. Grasping the ever-important concept of "face," and comprehending how people get engaged and get things done will be addressed. We'll focus on the development of practical tools for managing Chinese teams and communicating effectively. We'll hear from a diverse, experienced panel of professionals. This one-day program is a great way to share challenges, build your network and get the support you need.

About the Facilitator:

Em Roblin
Emily (Em) Roblin is the Managing Director of LEAP. She has been leading training and group coaching programs for professionals since her arrival to Asia in 2006. Robin is specialized in effective communication. She was recipient of the Ernst & Young Women in Business Inspiration Leadership Award in 2011, is an adviser to Power Women, and has been an executive member of the Viva Professional Network and board member of 85 Broads. She writes a column about effective communication for women in the All China Women's Federation's monthly publication.

Before her China time, in her hometown of Toronto, Canada, Roblin has a wealth of training experience and graduated top of her class with a Masters in Policy and Administration.

Innovative, charismatic and results-driven, Wang has over 18 years of leadership experience in international corporations. Wang's current role at Citic Capital is directed at the education, technology and media sectors. Her expertise spans business development, investment management and relationship building between key stakeholders from a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds including government departments, state-owned companies, embassies and overseas corporations. Over that time, she has gained a reputation for skillful implementation of business strategies that promote a positive company reputation and brand image across sectors and within the wider community. Before Citic, Wang was Vice President: Asia Pacific of McGraw-Hill Education Services (MHES) and has been deeply involved in education, including the launch of two schools. Wang graduated from the Fudan University with a B.A. degree and Murdoch University with a Masters in Business Administration.

Liz Ruetsch
Strategic Marketing Manager, China Communications Operation (CCO)

Liz Ruetsch has worked for HP/Agilent for the past 20 years, and has held a variety of positions in both the Americas Regional Sales Organization as well as in the Electronic Measurement Group (EMG) product divisions. She is currently the Strategic Marketing Manager for the China Communications Operation (CCO), and is based in Beijing, China. She manages a team of applications experts that are focused on Aerospace and Defense, Wireless Communications, Wireless Connectivity, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Digital Video and EMC markets – and they are focused on both the China market and the global market from an ecosystem perspective. Ruetsch holds a BSEE from Rutgers University (1994), and an MBA from the Boston University Executive MBA Program (2006).

Rita Yi, HR Professional
Rita Yi has about 20 years experience in the HR field, and until 2013 was a Senior HR Manager for Greater China and Asia South Region at Symantec. Rita has gained vast HR management experience from the well know multinational companies, such as ING Capital Life Insurance Company, General Electric, and Northern Telecom. She has solid experience in different HR functions, including strategic human resources management, talent and leadership development and HR business partnership. She has participated and led company set up, organization design, business and organization restructuring throughout her HR career. Yi graduated with a Master of Business Administration from McMaster University in Canada.
