China today is one of the world's fastest-urbanizing countries. The average income in rural areas is one-third of that in urban areas, and fewer employment opportunities cause migration toward cities are very common in recent years. It's worldwide problem of young people leaving resulting in services such as schools disappearing. To close the development gap between urban and rural areas, by accelerating the development of rural areas and making them more attractive for living. Rural revitalizations are essential.

Beigou village is famous for its geographic feature and proximity to the Great Wall of Mutianyu. Beigou was a dying village, as many people had left to work in the city and those that had stayed, for the most part, lived in abject poverty. An American couple found a former tile factory in Beigou and renovated it into a hotel called Brickyard. Brickyard has involved the local community and maintained as much of the original structures as possible.

AmCham China, in collaboration with the US embassy in Beijing, invites you to join us for a full-day program to Huairou district to experience the past, present, and future of Beigou village. The program starts with a guided tour of WA Art Museum. Guests will also experience restructuring projects of local residences. American companies' stories of rural revitalization projects will discuss over lunch.
