Enforcement by US authorities on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), as well as the current anti-corruption campaigns have greatly raised the business community's attention to compliance towards anti-bribery and corruption regulations. As the environment regarding anti-corruption and anti-bribery develops, understanding the trends and history of the US government's approach towards FCPA will be key to managing future business operations for American companies.
AmCham China is pleased to host Richard C. Smith, from Norton Rose Fulbright, to discuss recent FCPA developments, regarding fraudulent activities and the potential for international cooperation between Chinese and foreign authorities on anti-corruption enforcement. With more than 20 years' experience as a former federal prosecutor, Mr. Smith will discuss implications for companies operating in China regarding the anti-corruption enforcement trends and priorities of the U.S. Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission during recent FCPA cases and settlements, as well as the rise of cooperation among international enforcement authorities with the U.S. agencies.
