Northeast China: Women's Professional Network Luncheon – Working in Male-Dominated Fields
Have you ever been told, "That's not a suitable job for a woman"? US Consulate in Shenyang's Economic Officer, Beth Mader, has worked in two fields that used to be male-dominated: diplomacy and mining. Come hear how Beth made friends with the devil in a South American silver mine, served as a male doctor's eyes and hands in Afghanistan, and discovered the REAL reasons women "shouldn't work underground."
No hardhat is required for this presentation.
About the speaker: Beth Mader is the Economic Officer at the US Consulate in Shenyang; her past postings include Guangzhou, Ottawa, Kabul, and La Paz. Before becoming a diplomat, Beth worked at a coal mine in New Mexico.
