In this first event of the series, Professor Paul Gillis of Peking University's Guanghua School of Management and Dave McCann of PricewaterhouseCoopers will present the PwC case study that is used in the "Managing the Multinational Corporation in China" course in the MBA program at Guanghua School of Management.
PwC is the largest professional services firm in China, employing over 13,000 people. In its early years, PwC relied heavily on expatriate staff because of the complete absence of professional accountants in China. Localization and development of personnel was a major strategic challenge for PwC.

Professor Gillis will engage Dave McCann in a dialogue to explore how PwC was able to build a large professional staff in China over the past three decades. AmCham China's 2012 member survey indicated that human resource constraints are the top business challenge for American companies in China. The case will draw out some of PwC's experiences and successes in meeting that challenge.
Dave McCann led localization efforts at PwC since his arrival in China in 1997 taking up the role of HR partner. In his current role in charge of Partner Affairs, Mr. McCann has been actively involved in the last localization challenge for PwC - localizing partner and leadership ranks.
