In his delivery of the 2020 Annual Government Work Report, Premier Li Keqiang reiterated China's commitment to promote a higher-standard of opening up and stabilize the overall performance of foreign trade and investment. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, foreign investors in China had a lot to look forward to -- such as the US-China Phase One Agreement signed earlier this year and the implementation of the Foreign Investment Law. Instead, the spread of the virus and the subsequent tensions in the bilateral relationship, as well as a world-wide economic crisis, have overtaken the headlines.
How does China plan to carry out future reforms and openings? What are some concrete efforts that will be made to stabilize foreign investments led by the central government? What is the status of Phase One Implementation and will there be a Phase Two?
To help Policy+ subscribing companies to better answer these questions, we are pleased to invite Nie Pingxiang (聂平香), Deputy Director General of the Foreign Investment Research Department at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC), to share her views on these topics. The briefing will take place on Microsoft Teams on Tuesday, June 16, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM CST.
Each company is recommended to send at least one representative to attend the event and register by noon, Friday, June 12. Conference access information can be found in the confirmation email sent after registration. For any questions, please email Chloe Ma at cma@amchamchina.org.
