All Policy+ members are highly encouraged to attend the 2019 AmCham China Policy+ Priority Meeting from 2:00pm to 3:30pm on February 13 (Wednesday) in the Washington Room, AmCham China Sanlitun Office.


We will formalize the priorities for P+ membership in 2019 based on feedback received from the survey (for survey access, please check the meeting invitation email). We will also brainstorm a tentative list of guest speakers as well as research topics that you would like us to focus on in 2019.


Additionally, P+ members will have the opportunity to have an in-depth discussion with our newly elected AmCham China Chairman Tim Stratford.


This P+ exclusive event is free for all P+ members. We recommend that each company send no more than three representatives.


Light refreshments and beverages will be served.

    President at AmCham China

    Alan Beebe was appointed President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China on Mar. 14, 2016.

    Alan was an Executive Director based in Beijing, leading EY China’s Cleantech and Supply Chain and Operations (SC&O) practices. His clients include major global corporations, primarily diversified industrials and high-technology companies operating in China.

    Prior to joining EY, Alan held Executive positions with the China Greentech Initiative (CGTI), IBM, and management consulting firms AT Kearney and PRTM. He has twenty years of management consulting experience in the US, China and other Asian countries helping clients develop and implement sound business, operations and technology strategies. At EY China, he helps global clients transform their business models to drive new revenue opportunities and preserve profitability in China’s changing economic climate.

    From 2010 to 2013, Alan was a Managing Director with CGTI, a collaboration platform serving over 50 international energy and environmental companies. At CGTI, he led advisory services and strategic research across all major areas of energy and cleantech. In 2014, CGTI merged with the Paulson Institute, founded by Hank Paulson.

    Alan holds a Master’s degree from Yale University in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the United States. He is a Board of Advisor of the Yale Club of Beijing and in that capacity promotes academic and cultural exchanges between the United States and China. Alan has lived in China since 2002 and speaks Chinese fluently.

    Associate Director of AmCham China

    Catherine is the associate director, Government Affairs at AmCham China and the liaison to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC. In this position, she coordinates the chambers’ government affairs, policy, and advocacy strategies and manages AmCham China’s US government affairs strategy. Catherine has a MA in Asian Studies from the George Washington University and a BS in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University.

    Tim Stratford

    Chairman at AmCham China

    Tim Stratford is managing partner in Covington & Burling LLP’s Beijing office and a member of the International Trade, Corporate and Government Affairs Practice Groups. Mr. Stratford’s practice is focused on advising international clients doing business in China and assisting Chinese companies seeking to expand their businesses globally. As a former Assistant U.S. Trade Representative, Mr. Stratford is the most senior former U.S. trade official working as a member of the U.S. business community in China. Except for the five years he spent in Washington, D.C. in government service (2005-2010), Mr. Stratford has lived and worked continuously in the greater China region since 1982.

    While at USTR, Mr. Stratford was responsible for developing and implementing U.S. trade policy toward mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and Mongolia. He worked closely with other senior U.S. and Chinese officials from numerous government departments and agencies to address problems encountered by companies engaged in bilateral trade and investment and co-chaired a number of important bilateral working groups and dialogues established under the U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade and the U.S.-China Strategic & Economic Dialogue.

    Prior to serving at USTR, Mr. Stratford was General Counsel for General Motors’ China operations, where he was a member of GM’s senior management team in China and oversaw the company’s legal and trade policy work. Mr. Stratford also served previously as Minister-Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and as Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Brigham Young University, and is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
