Facing the sustained heavy smog at the end of 2016, Chinese government took a series of strict policies and actions to mitigate air pollution in 2017, especially in Jing-Jin-Ji region. The main policies/actions included: 1) Continue to implement super-clean emission standards in power generation sector and begin to expand to other industrial sectors 2) Eradicate small factories which don’t have adequate pollution control measures 3) Begin to treat “colorful tail-smoke” coming out of wet-desulfurization 4) Stop or halt production for some heavy-energy consumption plants in winter season in Jing-Jin-Ji region 5) Change coal to gas for household heating 6) Send special environmental supervisory teams to provinces to ensure enforcement and policy implementation These policies and actions achieved effects and the air quality in the most of the monitored cities has been improved.

    Ping He

    President at IFCE

    Ping He, Ph.D., is the Founder and President of the International Fund for China’s Environment (IFCE). He has coordinated IFCE activities on public relations, fundraising and project development since 1996. He has developed the cooperative relationship with international environmental and conservation organizations and programs, US and Chinese governmental agencies, NGOs and the private sector. He has also managed numerous projects involving environmental NGO development, technological exchanges, policy advice, US-China dialogue and public education.

    Dr. He received his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1995, and an M.S. in Environmental Monitoring in 1988 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his B.S. in China's Wuhan University in 1982. Presently, he also serves as Board Director of the Worldwatch Institute, a special representative to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and advisors for a number of corporations and NGOs. He has given lectures/speeches in US Congress, Yale Universities, Columbia University and numerous national and international conferences.

    MPhil, BEng, CEM

    With a Bachelor degree in environmental engineering, Mr. XIE obtained a degree of Master of Philosophy in sustainable development at University of Cambridge with a full scholarship from the British Chevening Program. Mr. XIE is a certified energy manager (CEM) by the Association of Energy Engineers of the US, and is also a certified auditor for both ISO14001 and cleaner production.

    Mr. Xie is the director and founder of a leading Chinese environmental think-tank, Innovation Center for Clean-air Solutions (ICCS). ICCS is acting as the Secretariat for Clean Air Alliance of China (CAAC), which is an integrated platform initiated by ten leading Chinese research institutions. ICCS works with the alliance members and partners to provide integrated technical support on clean air policy making and implementation, cleantech assessment, demonstration & promotion, and innovative investment. Before joining in ICCS, Mr. Xie served varied posts, including senior consultant, technical director, program manager, at environmental consultancies and development agencies in the field of environmental protection and curbing climate change.

Terms and Conditions

Attending an Event
Events have limited seating, so to ensure your attendance we encourage advance online registration and payment for ALL events. We cannot guarantee entry to anyone not registered in advance. Most of our events are in English and off the record, but please check the webpage for each event to avoid disappointment.

Advance Tickets and Discounts 
Members can receive a discount by purchasing an advance ticket at least 24 hours before the day of the event. You must pay online at the time of registering for the event to be eligible for a discount. Discounts will not be available to members at the door.

Receipts (fapiao) 
You can receive your fapiao when you arrive for an event provided that you buy an advance ticket and pay online at least 1 working day before the event and you provide the correct information for your fapiao at that time. You can leave details of the type of fapiao you need on the registration and payment page.

Event attendees can request a fapiao at the door or up to two months after the event. Requests made after that time will not be accommodated. Please contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.

Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend an event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than one business day prior to the event. If you fail to notify AmCham China of your cancellation in a timely fashion, you will forfeit the fee you have already paid.

To cancel you can: 1) cancel directly online through the EventBank platform on which you registered or 2) contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.
