Amcham China cordially invite you to join this educational seminar on Oct 12, at 11am. We are honored and delight to have Prof. Vikram Jandhyala, Electrical Engineering Professor and Vice Provost for Innovation Strategy at University of Washington.

Professor Vikram Jandhyala will speak about the importance of providing incentives to encourage international collaboration in the field of innovation, “inclusive innovation”. He will talk about the innovation process and share a new collaboration model currently taking shape between UW and Tsinghua University, that includes an international network of industries and universities who are partnering with students to tackle global challenges such as health, transportation, environment, and social equity. These projects are wide ranging, incorporating technologies such Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and more.

Vikram Jandhyala was featured in a recent Seattle Times article. The article reflects on Jandhyala’s success at the University of Washington (UW) and passion for innovation.

    Vice Provost for Innovation Strategy at University of Washington

    Vikram Jandhyala is Vice President for Innovation Strategy at the University of Washington, Executive Director of CoMotion (UW’s collaborative innovation hub) and Co-Executive Director of the Global Innovation Exchange (GIX). He is a professor and former chair in the Department of Electrical Engineering, an adjunct professor in the Information School and serves on the advisory boards of UW Foster Business School’s Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship, the Cambia Grove Healthcare Hub, Partners for Our Children and iInnovate. Jandhyala received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998. After spending two years in the design automation industry at Ansoft Corporation (acquired by Ansys), he joined UW EE in 2000. His research, which has led to more than 200 papers and several Ph.D. students at top R&D positions, has been funded by DARPA, semiconductor industries, national labs, the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation. He has received an NSF CAREER award, as well as awards from UIUC, IEEE, UW and NASA. He founded, along with his students in 2006, Nimbic, a venture-backed simulation company which was acquired by Mentor Graphics in 2014. His current interests are in innovation, entrepreneurial and design thinking, social and organizational networks and computational and data science.

Attending an Event
Events have limited seating, so to ensure your attendance we encourage advance online registration and payment for ALL events. We cannot guarantee entry to anyone not registered in advance. Most of our events are in English and off the record, but please check the webpage for each event to avoid disappointment.

Advance Tickets and Discounts 
Members can receive a discount by purchasing an advance ticket at least 24 hours before the day of the event. You must pay online at the time of registering for the event to be eligible for a discount. Discounts will not be available to members at the door.

Receipts (fapiao) 
You can receive your fapiao when you arrive for an event provided that you buy an advance ticket and pay online at least 1 working day before the event and you provide the correct information for your fapiao at that time. You can leave details of the type of fapiao you need on the registration and payment page.

Event attendees can request a fapiao at the door or up to two months after the event. Requests made after that time will not be accommodated. Please contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.

Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend an event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than one business day prior to the event. If you fail to notify AmCham China of your cancellation in a timely fashion, you will forfeit the fee you have already paid.

To cancel you can: 1) cancel directly online through the EventBank platform on which you registered or 2) contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.
