  • One of senior leaders of one of Big 4 accounting companies will describe Turning-around your business from both Cost & Revenue side
  • Optimization footprint ideas which allow for consolidation of manufacturing capacity – lower total footprint required, etc.
  • Lower risks doing a China turnaround – actual case examples.

We’re honored to invite two business leaders who have abundant experiences in this area to share their views and insights with AmCham members.
  • Maria Wu: OTS Partner in EY Operation Transaction Service. She has extensive experience in managing large-scale post-deal change programs and strong expertise in organization transactions, due diligence, Post-M&A integration project management and stakeholder management.
  • Russell Brown: Founder and Managing Partner of LehmanBrown International Accountants, a China-focused accounting, taxation and business advisory firm with operations in Beijing, Hong Kong and five other offices across China employing around 200 professionals
  • James Greener: Chair at Asia Transformation and Turnaround Association


Mr. Dwight Nordstrom, Co-chair of AmCham Manufacturing & Sourcing committee, General Manager of 8 operations in China over last 30 years, will be moderating the discussion.

    Mr. Russell Brown OBE is Founder and Managing Partner of LehmanBrown International Accountants, a China-focused accounting, taxation and business advisory firm with operations in Beijing, Hong Kong and five other offices across China employing around 200 professionals.

    Russell has over 31 years working experience including 23 years living in China and involved establishing and developing businesses in China. Prior to founding LehmanBrown Russell was Global CFO of one of the world’s largest public relations and communications consulting companies and prior to this their Asia Pacific Regional CFO.

    He currently acts as advisor to international companies entering the China market and to Chinese companies venturing abroad. He has advised in a wide range of industries and business situations in China and Hong Kong. He is also a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on taxation, accounting and doing business in and with China.

    Russell gained a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from Bournemouth University, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in the UK and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. He is also a Certified Global Management Accountant.

    He is currently Treasurer of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in China. He has previously held various positions including Chair, Vice Chair, and Treasurer of the British Chamber of Commerce in China, Vice Chair of the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), Chair and Director of the Asia Transformation and Turnaround Association. He is also an Honorary Member of The 48 Group Club.

    Russell is actively involved in many charitable events and is Chair of the British Charity Ball, one of the largest attend charity events in Beijing, and Chair of St George’s Day Charity Dinner. He is also a member of Rotary Club of Beijing and currently their President and previously was President Elect, Vice Chairman and Treasurer.

    Russell was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for services to British Business and the British Community in China in Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2015

    Chair at Asia Transformation and Turnaround Association

    James Greener was born and educated in Britain. He worked for 8 years in Asian capital markets in London before moving to China in 1994.
    He focuses on integration and transformation of industrial and automotive enterprises. From 1999 to 2003 he worked on fifteen restructuring, integration and transformation projects in China with PwC ranging from industrial state enterprises to a private equity backed IT systems integrator. He then ran BMW Supplier Development in Greater China for five years and from 2010 to 2012 Daimler Van Interior at Fujian Benz. He has led over 50 automotive supplier development programs and is a certified VDA 6.3 Process Auditor. He also delivers industrial transformation projects in other industries, recent examples being pumps, chemicals and refrigerators.
    He lives in Shanghai with his wife and two children. James speaks Mandarin and German, holds an MBA degree focused on Chinese state-owned enterprise restructuring, chairs the Asia Transformation and Turnaround Association, teaches leadership of organisational transformation for a North American university in Chinese and writes on the birth of the Industrial Revolution.

    Maria Wu is a Partner in EY Operation Transaction Service and based in Beijing. Prior to joining EY, she runs her own consulting firm focusing on large scale business transformation. She has successfully managed many large complex transformational assignments - she understands the challenges of driving meaningful change through ex-SOE and MNCs organizations with embedded change resistance.  She has won several awards for her work in turning around companies in China. She also provided human capital -based organisational restructuring solutions to Fortune 500 companies in Asia Pacific. Maria has extensive experience in managing large-scale post-deal change programs and strong expertise in organization transactions, due diligence, Post-M&A integration project management and stakeholder management.

    Maria is also a seasoned consultant with multi-cultural experience: with extensive exposure to European and Asian cultures, she is able to contribute a vital cross-culture view when providing consultancy services to the clients.

    Maria graduated from Manchester Business School with a MBA and a Master degree in Economics from People’s University of China where she was awarded as one of the best 100 graduates students of China.

    Dwight Nordstrom has over 30 years of experience in doing business in China. Since 1990, he has been the Chairman (initially President) of PRI, a USA manufacturing-holding company with 20+ equity investments in China. PRI also has a consulting division (Beijing & Shanghai primarily locations) with support functions for start-up and/or expansion of manufacturing and application engineering in China. Mr. Nordstrom has been General Manager “GM” of 7 factories in China with employment ranging from 30 to over 750. He served 3-years as Minco China/Korea start-up GM with sales growing over 3X, developed very profitable sourcing & design engineering & local manufacturing efforts. He has been interim GM for 1+ year at PRI’s 100%-owned media division ZDL – largest Judeo-Christian ethics-content publisher in China. He was also, in the late 1980’s, the China Country Manager for one of GE’s divisions -- this was a GE HQ-corporate position. As of 2017, Mr. Nordstrom is in his 13th year as Chairman of the Manufacturing & Sourcing Forum for the American Chamber of Commerce (China). Mr. Nordstrom has written, on average, 1 published article per year since 1990. He has served on 10+ board of directors as well as been executive “coach” for many China Country Managers.

Terms and Conditions

Attending an Event
Events have limited seating, so to ensure your attendance we encourage advance online registration and payment for ALL events. We cannot guarantee entry to anyone not registered in advance. Most of our events are in English and off the record, but please check the webpage for each event to avoid disappointment.

Advance Tickets and Discounts 
Members can receive a discount by purchasing an advance ticket at least 24 hours before the day of the event. You must pay online at the time of registering for the event to be eligible for a discount. Discounts will not be available to members at the door.

Receipts (fapiao) 
You can receive your fapiao when you arrive for an event provided that you buy an advance ticket and pay online at least 1 working day before the event and you provide the correct information for your fapiao at that time. You can leave details of the type of fapiao you need on the registration and payment page.

Event attendees can request a fapiao at the door or up to two months after the event. Requests made after that time will not be accommodated. Please contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.

Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend an event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than one business day prior to the event. If you fail to notify AmCham China of your cancellation in a timely fashion, you will forfeit the fee you have already paid.

To cancel you can: 1) cancel directly online through the EventBank platform on which you registered or 2) contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.
