In 2026, businesses in China are operating in a landscape that keeps shifting, with new domestic and external variables creating fresh challenges, new opportunities, and new strategic demands. In the near term, positive signals in US-China relations, including head-of-state diplomacy and continued high-level communication, have helped improve the tone of engagement and support more stable expectations. At the same time, long-term US-China strategic competition remains a core concern for the foreign business community in China. Meanwhile, China's economy continues to undergo structural adjustment and cultivate new growth drivers, prompting foreign companies to recalibrate their China strategy within a broader regional and global context.

In response to these shifts, the 2026 Government Affairs Annual Conference is themed "Re-Anchoring · New Growth: 2026 US-China Economic Relations Outlook ." This year's conference will examine how changes in the external policy environment and in China's domestic development trajectory are affecting foreign companies operating in China. Discussions will explore the outlook for US-China relations and the implications of China's economic restructuring during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. A central focus will be how foreign companies can better understand policy direction, identify points of alignment between policy priorities and business development, and reposition their China operations to support both local growth and broader global strategy.

AmCham China is pleased to welcome a distinguished group of speakers, including senior government officials, business executives, policy experts, and experienced government affairs professionals. Together, they will offer perspectives on how companies can interpret policy signals, manage uncertainty, align China strategy with global priorities, and identify areas where policy direction and business development intersect.

As part of the Conference, we will also launch the 28th edition of the American Business in China White Paper (White Paper), one of AmCham China's flagship publications. The 2026 White Paper provides a comprehensive assessment of the operating environment for foreign companies in China and reflects the views and priorities of our membership across a broad range of industries, cross-cutting issues, and regional markets
