Alderson's clientele extends to tech companies, promoters and event management companies, architectural firms, universities and publishers. He has served as Co-Chair of AmCham China’s Media & Entertainment Forum since 2010.

    IP Attachรฉ for China at US Embassy

    Joel Blank serves as the intellectual property (IP) attaché at the US Embassy in Beijing, China. In this capacity, Blank serves as the principal officer within the embassy on matters related to the protection and enforcement of IP rights in China and as a primary liaison between the embassy and relevant offices of the Chinese government for such matters. His duties include helping to develop, promote and implement US government policies that will facilitate the ability of rights holders to protect and enforce their IP rights in China; apprising the ambassador and other embassy officials of important IP developments; and serving as a point of contact for US companies that have questions on China’s IP environment.

    Prior to his appointment as the IP attaché, Blank was an attorney-advisor in the Office of Policy and International Affairs at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). As a member of the office’s Enforcement Team, Blank specialized in developing the USPTO’s policy on China-related IP matters, particularly those concerning enforcement. Prior to joining the USPTO, he was a senior attorney in the US Department of Commerce’s Office of the Chief Counsel for International Commerce (OCCIC), where he advised the International Trade Administration on international trade law issues. While at OCCIC, Blank specialized in international intellectual property, investment, competition and China-related legal issues.

    Blank graduated magna cum laude from American University’s Washington College of Law, where he served as the editor-in-chief of the American University International Law Review. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Drake University, where he graduated magna cum laude with majors in international business, accounting, and management.

    Senior Intellectual Property Liaison Officer at UK Embassy

    Tom Duke has been the UK’s intellectual property attaché to China since December 2011, based in the British Embassy, Beijing, China. Duke is part of the UK Intellectual Property Office’s international IP attaché network, which includes attaché postings to India, Brazil and South East Asia.

    IP attachés help to build relations with the governments of host countries to understand and actively engage with IP policy makers. The network has significantly increased the level of support available for UK businesses operating within these important markets.

    Tom works alongside UKTI, the British diplomatic network, and UK and EU-level industry associations and projects to ensure that UK stakeholder IP concerns are addressed and smoothly integrated into bilateral policy discussions.

    Prior to joining the embassy, Tom was Director responsible for the IP Centre at the EU Chamber of Commerce in Seoul, South Korea. In Korea, Tom designed and implemented government engagement programmes on IP on behalf of European companies, and launched projects to enhance regional cooperation on IP enforcement.

    Tom has lived and worked in the region for ten years and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and Korean.

CMM-I is also the China agents for German Films, and the exclusive distributor for National Geographic Large Format Films in the Hong Kong and Mainland markets. CMM-I has been for more than 10 years the exclusive China agent for Reed Midem, the organizer of the world’s largest international content markets (MIPTV/MIPCOM) held annually in Cannes, France.

    Kender has lived in China for more than 20 years.
