The Media & Entertainment Forum welcomes Tom Duke, Senior Intellectual Property Liaison Officer of the British Embassy, as the key speaker for this exclusive lunchtime presentation. Duke will discuss trends and topics of interest to him in his work, including anti-counterfeiting and IP enforcement in e-commerce and cross-border enforcement collaboration. He will speak on his recent work with Alibaba and other Chinese platforms as well as joint operations between UK and Chinese law enforcement.
Tom Duke has been the UK’s intellectual property attaché to China since December 2011, based in the British Embassy in Beijing. Duke is part of the UK Intellectual Property Office’s international IP attaché network, which includes attaché postings to India, Brazil and South East Asia. IP attachés help to build relations with the governments of host countries to understand and actively engage with IP policy makers. Prior to joining the Embassy, Duke was Director responsible for the IP Centre at the EU Chamber of Commerce in Seoul, South Korea. There, he designed and implemented government engagement programs on IP on behalf of European companies, and launched projects to enhance regional cooperation on IP enforcement. Duke has lived and worked in the region for 10 years, and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and Korean.
