With more and more business transactions taking place across borders, the number of China-related and cross-border disputes is also on the rise. Consequently, it is more common for Chinese and foreign business partners to opt for arbitration when negotiating contractual dispute resolution clauses. The China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) recently revised its 2012 Arbitration Rules, and the new rules became effective January 1, 2015. The changes adopt both best practices and the latest developments in international commercial arbitration and accommodate the increasing needs of the parties arbitrating at CIETAC.
AmCham China is pleased to welcome Dr. Yu Jianlong, vice chairman and secretary general of CIETAC. He will will discuss the recent trends in international commercial disputes in China and focus on how the new rules will impact vital issues for AmCham China member companies.
Key changes to address: – Emergency arbitrator procedures – Single arbitration arising out of, or in connection with, multiple contracts – Joiner of third parties to the proceedings of arbitration – Consolidation of arbitrations – Establishment of the Arbitration Court – Special provisions for the CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Centre
