The 2014 Ebola epidemic is the largest in history. The virus continues to spread rapidly in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, and has caused food shortages in one of the world's poorest regions, threatening the stability of stricken countries and their neighbors. To date, more than 1000 people, including numerous health care workers, have been killed by Ebola virus disease (EVD) this year, and the number of cases in the current outbreak now exceeds the number from all previous outbreaks combined.

To help our members understand more about the virus, AmCham China invites Doctor Carol Rao (just returned from Sierra Leone a few weeks ago) from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and David Rutstein from United Family Healthcare for a presentation with our members. The two speakers will not only provide answers to various questions of how the virus is spread, what the latest developments of global efforts are, what protective measures we should take, and what steps the US and Chinese governments are taking to prevent it from further spreading out, but also share with us valuable on the ground experience of fighting against the virus in Sierra Leona.

This event was rescheduled from earlier in November.
