We all know first-hand how challenging it can be for expats living and working in China, let alone managing large teams. In this course, participants will get a solid understanding of the cultural landscape in China, and communication strategies for success. We'll look at Chinese values, ambition, work ethic, and how people build relationships. Grasping the ever-important concept of "face", and comprehending how people get engaged and get things done will be addressed. We'll focus on the development of practical tools for managing Chinese teams and communicating effectively. We'll hear from a diverse, experienced panel of professionals. This 1-day program is a great way to share challenges, build your network, and get the support you need.

About the Facilitators

Em Roblin
Em is the Managing Director of LEAP. She has been leading training and group coaching programs for professionals since her arrival to Asia in 2006.
Em is specialized in effective communication. She was recipient of the Ernst & Young Women in Business Inspiration Leadership Award in 2011, is an adviser to POWER Women, and has been an executive member of the Viva Professional Network and board member of 85 Broads. She writes a column about effective communication for women in the All China Women's Federation's monthly publication.
Before her China time, in her hometown of Toronto, Canada, Em has a wealth of training experience and graduated top of her class with a Masters in Policy and Administration.

Rita Yi, HR Professional
Rita has about 20 years experience in the HR field, and until 2013 was a Senior HR Manager for Greater China and Asia South Region at Symantec. Rita has gained vast HR management experience from the well know multinational companies, such as ING Capital Life Insurance Company, General Electric, and Northern Telecom. She has solid experience in different HR functions, including strategic Human Resources Management, Talent and leadership development, HR business partnership. She has participated and led company set up, organization design, business and organization restructuring throughout her HR career. Rita graduated with a Master of Business Administration from McMaster University in Canada.

Richard Robinson, Serial Entrepreneur in China
Rich is serial tech entrepreneur, based in the Middle Kingdom since 1996. Previously a senior executive at three companies from pre-IPO through to their public listings, Rich then went on to found five companies in the mobile internet space. Three companies exited to publicly listed companies, one failed magnificently and one is still fighting the good fight. Rich has an MBA from Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus in The Netherlands, and a B.S. in Business from USC in L.A.

Teresa Tang, Government Relations, Tyco International
Teresa Tang, Government Relations Director for Asia at Tyco. Teresa is a GR professional in managerial position with more than 25 years working experiences, which include 12 years in Chinese Foreign Ministry, 10 years in multi-national companies (before Tyco, she worked at Sun Microsystems and Honeywell) and 2 years in H-Line Ogilvy, a joint-venture communication agency.She joined Tyco in 2010 and is now based in Beijing. Teresa is a graduate of China's Foreign Affairs College and majored in Diplomacy.
