Development and Challenges of Medical Insurance in China
Medical insurance is a key part of health reform in China, and is becoming increasingly important in shaping the future of the healthcare system. China's primary medical insurance scheme, the Basic Medical Insurance, is supervised by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. The development of this plan, the challenges it is now facing, and the involvement of commercial insurance in the big picture going forward, will be critical to the success of healthcare reform in China.
The US-China Healthcare Cooperation Program (HCP) is pleased to host Feng Han, the founder and the president of the Journal of China Health Insurance and former deputy executive president of the Research Association of Chinese Health Insurance, for a workshop on the development and challenges of medical insurance in China.
Feng Han has served as the former deputy director general of the Ministry of Social Security Bureau of Social Insurance and Medical Insurance, and deputy director of the Institute of Social Insurance of China as one of the initial organizers and the president of the Association of Health Insurance. She is the founder of the well-known Journal of China Health Insurance and currently the president.
