About the Speakers:
Mark Filip - Former Deputy Attorney General of the United States and a former US Federal Judge.
In 2012 he spoke at AmCham Shanghai about the current American regulatory enforcement environment, with particular focus on FCPA, Accounting and Securities Fraud, and Private plaintiff litigation against companies publicly traded in the US, which are of particular concern to US entities operating in China.
Robert Khuzami - Former Enforcement Director of the SEC
During Mr. Khuzami's tenure at the SEC, the Enforcement Division filed its highest rate of cases, in fiscal years 2011 and 2012, and he initiated and oversaw the most significant restructuring of the division in agency history. He created nationwide prosecution units to concentrate on the high-priority areas of investment advisers and private funds, large-scale trading and market abuse, bribery of foreign officials under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and municipal securities and public pensions. He recently joined Kirkland.
Sam Williamson - A partner Kirkland's Shanghai office
He leads the firm's Asia-based government enforcement and investigations practices. He is a former federal prosecutor, having served as a white collar supervisor at the US Department of Justice, and has extensive experience living and working in Asia, having lived in China on multiple occasions, as well as in Japan and Singapore. Sam speaks Mandarin Chinese and Japanese and is the only Chinese-speaking former federal prosecutor resident in China.
