Alan Beebe was appointed President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China on Mar. 14, 2016.

Alan was an Executive Director based in Beijing, leading EY China’s Cleantech and Supply Chain and Operations (SC&O) practices. His clients include major global corporations, primarily diversified industrials and high-technology companies operating in China.

Prior to joining EY, Alan held Executive positions with the China Greentech Initiative (CGTI), IBM, and management consulting firms AT Kearney and PRTM. He has twenty years of management consulting experience in the US, China and other Asian countries helping clients develop and implement sound business, operations and technology strategies. At EY China, he helps global clients transform their business models to drive new revenue opportunities and preserve profitability in China’s changing economic climate.

From 2010 to 2013, Alan was a Managing Director with CGTI, a collaboration platform serving over 50 international energy and environmental companies. At CGTI, he led advisory services and strategic research across all major areas of energy and cleantech. In 2014, CGTI merged with the Paulson Institute, founded by Hank Paulson.

Alan holds a Master’s degree from Yale University in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the United States. He is a Board of Advisor of the Yale Club of Beijing and in that capacity promotes academic and cultural exchanges between the United States and China. Alan has lived in China since 2002 and speaks Chinese fluently.

Dr. Kai Ni is the founder and CEO of HoloMatic Technology Co., Ltd.

Dr. Ni joined Institute of Deep Learning (IDL) at Baidu as a senior scientist in 2013. He was in charge of the autonomous vehicle project and also worked on the high-precision map project. He founded the autonomous driving team at Baidu and led the team to finish road tests on public roads in Beijing at the end of 2015. Prior to that, Dr. Ni worked at Microsoft in Seattle as a researcher on 3D maps and HoloLens projects.

He got the Bachelor degree in Automation and the master degree in Computer Science both at Tsinghua University, in which Dr. Ni was working on THMR-V self-driving vehicle project. After that, Dr. Ni got his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology, U.S.

Ms. Ning holds a Bachelor of Laws from Peking University and a Master in Law from McGill University. She was admitted as a Chinese lawyer in 1988.

Ms. Ning joined King & Wood Mallesons in 1995. She is a partner and the head of the Compliance Group. Ms. Ning’s main areas of practice include cybersecurity and data compliance, and antitrust and competition law. In addition, Ms. Ning also practiced international trade and investment law.

Cybersecurity and Data Compliance

With the background of the increasing value of data for business competition, Susan is one of the pioneers engaged in the cybersecurity and data compliance practice and has a professional team of lawyers with interdisciplinary background. Susan’s practice areas include: assisting clients in establishment of enterprise data (including personal information protection) compliance system; assisting clients in formulation and modification of privacy policy and compliance plans; assisting clients in developing cross-border data transmission plans; assisting clients in developing data commercialization compliance programs; assisting clients in self-assessment of cybersecurity and data compliance; assisting the client in internal training on cybersecurity and data compliance; assisting clients in responding to cybersecurity inspections; assisting clients in responding to network security emergencies; assist the client in telecom regulation and cybersecurity compliance concerning cloud services; providing clients with review and consultation services concerning cross-border transfer of evidence in litigation and arbitration; providing consultation services on data compliance in frontier areas such as blockchains, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things.

Susan has assisted companies in sectors such as IT, communications, mobile payment, intelligent connected vehicle (ICV), finance, media, energy, aviation, chemical and manufacturing.

In order to grasp the latest developments and regulatory trends in big data legislation, KWM cybersecurity and data compliance team led by Ms. Ning joins in the Information Security Management Working Group in the National Information Security Standardization Technical Committee, the Big Data Standards Working Group in National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee and the National Artificial Intelligence Standardization General Group and actively participates in the formulation of industry standard of big data.

Mr. Han Wu is a partner of the Compliance Group. He currently provides legal services with regard to cybersecurity and data compliance, antitrust and anti-monopoly.

Mr. Wu joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2011. Before that, he had successively worked in a domestic legal firm and a foreign-invested company. Mr. Wu had a one-year working experience in King & Wood Mallesons, London Office in 2015.

Mr. Wu obtains his Bachelor’s degree of Geographic Information System (GIS) from Wuhan University. Mr. Wu holds both Juris Doctor and Master of Law degree from Peking University.

Mr. Wu is the only lawyer from Chinese law firms featured as the 40-under-40 Data Lawyers by Global Data Review in 2018.

Albert Xie is Vice President, Public Policy and Government Relations at General Motors, China, with over 30-year working experience in the academia in China and foreign companies, and good understanding of the Chinese and Western cultures.

Albert holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Beijing Aeronautical Institute, and a Master’s degree in business administration from the China Program of City University in Seattle, Washington.

Before joining the corporate world, Albert had an 11-year career in the academia in China, teaching aviation engines and aircraft maintenance at the Civil Aviation University of China. Prior to General Motors, Albert worked for General Electric (GE) in China for 17 years, serving major leadership responsibilities covering sales and marketing, and government affairs, and most recently served as General Manager, China Government Affairs, GE Aviation.

Albert joined General Motors (GM) China in February, 2014, as Vice President for Public Policy and Government Relations based in Beijing, responsible for building and maintaining GM's strong relationship with key government agencies, interpreting China's political environment to support management decisions, promoting GM's corporate image, and fostering strong relationships with GM's partners to enhance its government relations strategies.
