No One Deserves to Endure: Preventing Workplace Bullying and Nurturing Mental Wellness
In recent years, school bullying has drawn continuous attention through news reports and TV dramas, while workplace bullying has been discussed far less. The Workplace Anti-Bullying Act has officially taken effect in South Korea. According to a survey by the South Korean Human Rights Commission, 73% of office workers in the country have experienced workplace bullying. A report by the U.S. Labor Organization reveals that 1 in every 3 employees faces bullying at work. What's even more alarming is that these workplace bullying incidents are often highly concealed, yet they are becoming a major culprit behind low productivity and high employee turnover. In the U.S., workplace bullying costs businesses over $200 billion annually. Workplace bullying typically involves the manipulation of established company rules and policies, often intertwined with management communication, performance metrics, collaboration, service support, business growth, competitive pressure, and career advancement, making it inherently covert. Workplace bullying can generally be categorized into the following types:
Abusive Supervision from Managers
Workplace Ostracism by Colleagues
Collective Isolation of Superiors by Subordinates
With changing economic conditions, modern young professionals face job insecurity, confusion, anxiety, and hidden workplace bullying, all of which contribute to psychological stress and health risks. Perhaps you have been bullied before, or maybe you've unknowingly caused harm to others.
This event is suitable for managers, HR professionals, key workplace contributors, and those about to enter the workforce. The HR Working Group and Young Professionals Working Group of the American Chamber of Commerce in China invite you to join this session, where experts will discuss:
- How to identify and prevent workplace bullying
- How to address mental health concerns for yourself or your employees
- How to build a healthier work environment together!
We look forward to your participation!
