With growing urbanization around the world, cities are bustling with vibrant energy and seem to never sleep. Indeed, urban residents enjoy the convenience, opportunities, and excitement unique to cities. But on the flip side, as we travel through these concrete jungles each day, there's increased feeling of being distanced from nature. So we need to reconnect and reflect on our relationship with nature.

Nature is often synonymous with "wilderness" in many American communities; but in China, it is often respected as a part of the human environment, integrated with society. These different interpretations of nature, in turn, lead to different attitudes toward humankind's relationship with the Earth.

In the hope of expanding our bilateral cultural exchanges, AmCham China would like you to reexamine the relationship between humans, society, and nature. With a series of discussions and workshops at the Tianjin Spring Rock International Camp, we hope to provide you an opportunity to engage in thought-provoking conversations that explore nature's role in modern life, the cultural basis behind distinct concepts of nature, and the possibilities and hopes of our urban communities.

This is a free event that includes family-unit rooms, a two-day full program, insurance, dining, and roundtrip bus transportation. Please understand that RSVPs are required and no walk-ins will be allowed.

The American Chamber of Commerce in China and the United States Embassy in China are in partnership to help expand the conversation of our bilateral relations to our communities that may have different views but certainly shared responsibilities to the global education system. This event is funded as a gift of the United States Government.
