Alex leads EY China Carbon Neutrality Task Force focusing on development of Decarbonization and relevant ESG solutions for Energy Transition, ESG Transformation for clients besides achieving EY’s own Net Zero goal. He is also the lead author for the book “A Pathway to Carbon Neutrality in China” and various thought leadership on Energy Transition, Carbon Market and Climate Technology.
Alex has held a number of Markets and Client Service Partner roles in the Energy & Resources Market Segment and Government & Public Sector Market Segment in Greater China for EY. He has been instrumental in launching EY’s Greater China Infrastructure Advisory Services focusing on One Belt One Road infrastructure opportunities, especially in power & utilities sector and also serving the domestic Public Private Partnership advisory market.
Alex Zhu has over 20 years of experience in professional services focusing on transaction advisory and economic modelling. His career spans across multiple geographies, sectors and clients, with experience in Asia, Africa and North America.
Alex has extensive experiences leading large complex projects involving different work streams, multiple disciplines, especially those cross-broader in nature. Armed with deep knowledge in China market and overseas markets after spending 10 years in the US, two years in South Africa and the rest in China, he excels at finding a balanced solution among various stakeholders by communicating, motivating and bridging gaps.
Alex has led corporate finance, financial feasibility, valuation and modelling services for large infrastructure projects in various sectors such as power & utilities, oil & gas, transportation and telecommunication. He has been in charge of transaction advisory works, including due diligence, valuation, tax structuring and negotiation, for large cross-border M&As.

Ms. Crystal Zhang focuses on providing strategic research and advisory services to multinational corporations, TMT, digital economy, AI and FinTech, consumer technology, and large-scale infrastructure projects, covering areas such as green development and sustainable transformation trends, investment and business model analysis, policy and regulatory assessment, and corporate risk and value creation analysis. Her deliverables typically take the form of industry and market research reports, policy and investment analysis reports, supporting corporate strategic decisions, cross-border investment planning, and sustainable development initiatives.
With 18 years of professional experience, Ms. Zhang has long assisted clients in navigating opportunities and challenges arising from technological change, industry upgrading, regulatory evolution, and global capital market dynamics. She possesses deep expertise in AI and digital technology applications, industry-finance integration, supply chain and operational efficiency optimization, compliance, and risk management, enabling her to conduct systematic analyses across industry logic, business models, financial impacts, and sustainable value creation.
In previous projects, Ms. Zhang has participated in and led multiple multinational enterprise and investment-related research projects, providing strategic advice from the perspectives of corporate governance, value creation, risk management, and investment decision-making, and supporting the implementation of green technology and business strategies through scenario analysis, roadmap planning, and key milestone design.
She has long been engaged in the study of international rules, policies, and regulatory frameworks, with familiarity in global sustainable finance, green industry policies, and disclosure frameworks, integrating these requirements with corporate strategy, investment analysis, and industry research to provide research support for international markets and cross-border sustainable investment.
Building on this, Ms. Zhang has also accumulated extensive experience in audit, accounting advisory, and capital market services, familiar with IFRS, US GAAP, and Chinese accounting standards, effectively applying financial analysis to industry research, investment analysis, and policy research scenarios, providing professional support for complex decisions.
